Introduction to baby yoga

Jenie

Before commencing with your baby yoga session it is important to make contact with your baby and ensure that they are happy and ready to engage. Babies communicate in many different ways and you will learn to read their cues and respond to their needs. It is fine to stop and have a cuddle, feed or a sleep at any time. Take time to bond with a connecting touch or a gentle massage, relaxing together with full easy breaths.

Remember

Listen to your body; do not do movements if they are uncomfortable, do not overstretch.

Baby leads the class; attend baby’s needs when necessary.

You know your baby better than anybody; always listen to your instincts when deciding if baby yoga is appropriate; do not practice baby yoga if baby is unwell.

If baby has had an immunisation, wait 72 hours before you practice baby yoga. If baby hasn’t had a reaction, you can practice after 48 hours.

DO NOT OVER STRETCH BABY
