What is Closing the Bones?

Closing the bones’ is a relaxing and beautiful way to support and nurture a woman after childbirth.  It’s a way to celebrate and honour the body after working so hard for months.  It is a truly wonderful ceremony, not just physically but emotionally and spiritually too.

During a ‘Closing the Bones’ ceremony the room is set up with lots of candles, an aromatherapy diffuser, blankets and cushions to create a relaxed, safe and intimate environment.  A Rebozo (Mexican shawl) is used to sift a woman’s hips from side to side.  Her abdomen and hips are then massaged in a specific way, a nurturing way honouring the body for what it has achieved.  It is a time for stillness and reflection upon the emotional rollercoaster of motherhood.

This wonderful ceremony is not just for those who have recently given birth, it can be enjoyed even years after.

‘Closing the Bones’ is offered as a private treatment in your home (if you would prefer this at the Massage Therapy Rooms by Aimee in Birkdale this is available but would incur a further charge to cover venue hire).  Please allow 90 minutes per session to enable me to set up a relaxing space, explain what will happen and make you comfortable,  30-40 minutes of the session will be the ceremony its self.   If you are nursing, your baby is more than welcome to join us too.
